Gemotions

The gentle breeze rustled the leaves outside as Maya sat on the patio, sipping her coffee. The morning had been spent tending her garden, the earth under her fingernails, the warmth of the sun on her skin. She had just finished weeding and watering, her body feeling pleasantly tired.

She decided to look through some old family photos. She went to the attic. Amongst old photograph albums and boxes of mementos she discovered a simple, plain envelope. Inside, a single letter. Her aunt's name at the top, followed by a company logo. It was a resignation letter. She smiled softly, the weight of the day falling away. She felt a lightness, an almost weightless feeling.
